Welcome to the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 7 blog tour! In November 2009, I launched my blog to coincide with the very first issue of 100 Blocks and blog tour. It’s good to be back!
My block is called Capstone – block #612 on page 27. It was inspired by the center medallion in my award-winning quilt Flourish on the Vine.
I modified it by removing the flourishes and the underlay fabric between the two outer circles. Then I added some extra curved lines, which – if you look closely – form four quarter-circles.
These lines create a secondary pattern of overlapping circles when Capstone blocks are sewn together. Watch for the pattern for Roundabout in an upcoming issue of Quilts from Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks!
Now for the fun part – the prizes! To enter your name in the draw to win a copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 7, leave a comment below by midnight Friday, May 3rd with your favorite project inspired by Flourish on the Vine. (HINT: Flourish projects can be found in the blog category “Flourish on the Vine” as well as on the Pinterest Board “Flourish on the Vine Pattern Pack”.)
I will also be giving away three copies of the Flourish on the Vine Pattern Pack. The pattern pack includes full-size drawings and a 16-page color booklet with complete instructions for making the quilt Flourish on the Vine. Or, use the pattern to create your favorite Flourish project! You may enter this draw three ways (and three times):
1. “Like” my Facebook Page Kathy K. Wylie Quilts.
2. Subscribe to my E-Newsletter in the box on the right margin.
3. Follow me on Pinterest.
All entries must be submitted by midnight Friday, May 3rd.
Please note that each comment submitted below must be approved before it will appear on the blog. I will be on the road Thursday morning, so it might be a few hours before your comment shows up. But don’t worry – I’ll get it! Winners will be announced on Monday, May 6th.
I agree with many of the folks here. My favorite is the table runner. The quilting is so detailed. It is way out of this beginner’s league, but does inspire me that maybe one day I can do work this beautiful.
I Subscribe to your E-Newsletter in the box on the right margin of the blog.
Well, I love all of your blocks, but I think Capstone speaks to me the most. I tend to enjoy the more modern-type patterns. I think Capstone is AMAZING! Thanks for sharing these beauties!
Love the table runner application
O.k. this is a new applique treatment for me! Sort of Celtic meets William Morris. I can see some interesting fabrics filling the areas between those curves of the Capstone blocks. I love your Flourish table runners and the “Flourish of Fruit” is just stunning!
Funny, when I went to grad school our “Capstone” was the research project we had to do to complete the degree. Doing one of these Flourish projects would be a Capstone project for me for the applique skills I’ve been trying to learn.
Would love to learn a new technique. Thanks for a chance to win.
I love that table runner if I had to choose. I really like them all.
I love them all but the purse the most! Thanks for the chance to win.
Beautiful & awesome! Remember reading the email from the publisher when the book came out and thought WOW – not my skill level. So which one – most reasonable project for me to attempt would have to be the compact Four Corner Florish – loved how you walked us threw the process. Thanks for the chance to win.
Great block! Congratulations on having it in the magazine! Thank-you.
We liked your FB page as Marcia and Margaret, and left a comment for you. This is the email used for our FB account. Thanks.

Your Flourish on the Vine quilt is stunning!! All the projects are gorgeous too. I think my favorite is the long table runner.
Thank you for having this wonderful giveaway. I don’t know if you need separate comments about the other requirements, but I will mention here that I ‘liked’ your facebook page, subscribed to your newsletter, and started following you on pinterest. I was delighted to discover your work, and happily did all those tasks.
Awesome work!! Love it all – cannot imagine the time you must spend creating such wonderful quilts.
I really like that long table runner with flourish. I think it would look so elegant on an extra long table. I never thought of doing something else with a pattern other than make the quilt from the pattern. But you have so many other wonderful projects.
All of your Flourish On The Vine inspired projects are beautiful. It’s very difficult to choose just one. Flourish in the Middle would look wonderful on a tabletop alone or as a centerpiece under a lovely piece of art glass. The projects are just elegant. Congratulations on your selection for Volume 7 of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, and for the upcoming publication of Roundabout. I hope I win a copy of your amazing Flourish on the Vine quilt pattern.
Kathy, your block is beautiful!
I signed up to E-Newsletter…. haven’t quite figured out pinterest site yet.

I love the table runner.
The table runner is intriguing to me. This would be beautiful on my dining room table. Thank you for the giveaways.

I love them all but my favortie is the purse.
Really like the way your block created the secondary pattern, very eye catching.
Oh my such a pretty block. The handbag is awesome!! Nicely done.
I like the table runner.
Love flourish in the middle!! You are such a talented lady!
The Grids and Gromets bag is beautiful.
All of the projects are gorgeous!
My favorite is the Handbag with Flourish but I also like the table runner. Beautiful!
I like the pastel 12×56 table runner. It looks almost like machine embroidery!
I like both tablerunners made from your flourish pattern.
I am inspired by the picture of the wreath made of swags. I would like to take those swags and make a mantel cover for the fall and winter months. It is so elegant looking.
Handbag with Flourish is my favorite project. It would be nice to have something you could show off more often than a quilt.
I like the Flourish Within quilt you made. Thanks for the chance to win.
Your work is beautiful! It’s hard to pick one project, so I’ll say it’s a tie between the tablerunner and flourish in the middle. Thanks sew much for this chance to win 😀
Flourish in the Middle is nice.
The elegant table runner!
My favorite is the purse pattern.
All quilt pattern look great and I have no clue how to make it.
I like the Grids & Grommets handbag from Indygo Junction with the vertical motif in the Flourish pattern
I like Flourish in the Middle! it’s stunning!
I love the Flourish in the middle project but I couldn’t bring myself to put a hot pot on it! LOL
My favourite is the table runner that I started in your workshop… though it has morphed out of the table runner category into a wall hanging!
