Welcome to the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8 blog tour! This is my third time participating and it is so much fun. My block Spring Snowflake appeared in the very first issue of 100 Blocks and the quilt Snow Blossoms was featured on the cover of Quilts from Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. Earlier this year, Volume 7 included my block Capstone and the quilt Roundabout was raffled at the IQA Celebrity Silent Auction.
It is my very great pleasure to present my block for Volume 8: Fiddleheads. It is block #718 on page 30.
Fiddleheads was inspired by the center motif in the violin block from the award-winning quilt Instruments of Praise.
Four Fiddleheads blocks placed closely together create an interesting secondary pattern, especially if placed on a different background.
They also look nice set on point with a thin sashing and an alternating four-patch block.
Repeating the center motif in the four-patch blocks adds interest…
… and repeating the swirls in the borders adds even more!
Now for the fun part – the prizes! To enter your name in the draw to win a copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8, leave a comment below by midnight Friday, November 15th with your favorite instrument in the quilt Instruments of Praise. (Hint: click on each instrument in the text on the Quilt Gallery page to see a detail photo.)
Complete instructions for the violin block and all the other instruments in the quilt are available in the Instruments of Praise Pattern Pack. Inside the glossy cardboard envelope, you will find a 16-page color instruction booklet along with all the full-size drawings needed to complete each section of the quilt.
As part of the celebration for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8 blog tour, I will be offering $3 off the purchase price if you order on-line during the blog tour. Just enter blogtour as the coupon code to reduce the price to only $14.95. Offer expires at midnight on Sunday, November 17th, 2013.
Win a free pattern! I will draw one name from every 5 orders, refund the purchase price, and send you the pattern for free. All you’ll pay is the shipping. That’s a one in five chance of winning!
Please note that each comment submitted below must be approved before it will appear on the blog, so it might be a few minutes before your comment shows up. But don’t worry – I’ll get it! Winners will be announced on Monday, November 18th. Thanks for visiting!

My favorite instrument would be the flute. All of the instruments are beautiful as is the entire quilt, but I am partial to the flute as that is the instrument I played in high school. I wish I could afford to buy a pattern at this time, but it just isn’t in the budget, need to save every extra penny for Christmas for my Grandchildren.
