This quilt commemorates Great Lake Ontario and its dual citizenship. The positive/negative color scheme represents the way our two nations look upon the same thing from two different perspectives. And just as the Canadian/American border is seen only as a dotted line running through Lake Ontario, the light-value blocks form a virtual border in the quilt.
